Is the G1 really that unattractive?

So, I want to gauge people's opinion on this. I guess it's a matter of preference, but I don't think the G1 isn't that bad looking of a device. Granted it isn't an iPhone or a BlackBerry Bold, but the G1 design is simple. Not too flashy with chrome borders and all that other stuff. But an interesting swivel design, a nice resolution screen, and an interesting texture (like the Treo 750), make for a decent looking device. Thoughts? :)

I think they could have done a little better aesthetically, but the design has grown on me since the first blurry-cam shots.

I guess I'll see how I like it in person on 10/22. But, regardless of the hardware design, I am very excited to see what Android can do.

Hmmmmm Nope.
It actually looks like a combination of a Sidekick and an iPhone.
I like the design and its texture, it looks like its got a nice finish on the sides as well.

I dont know why you would complain about the matter of the fact if the phone is ugly or not, havent you seen what OS is running?!

Its not that ugly to me. It is simple looking but I think that Android will make up for its asthetic deficiencies.

My honest opinion regarding the looks of the g-phone is that it is pretty hideous. Call me strange, but I feel that it is important for a device to have symmetry. The crook at the bottom of a phone, resembling an early 90's cordless phone is ugly! I thought we were passed this design flaw. Otherwise, the device is appealing in its functions, and I suppose this flaw may have to be over looked if people rave enough about this device. Otherwise, I will stick to the sleek design of the iphone. But it is the functionality of the device that will ultimately lead me to my decision.

When I first saw some pix online and a commercial, I though that thing was ugly. After getting a chance to play with a working model, it's not really that bad. I really like the texture of the case. The only thing that I would have an issue with would probably having the bottom of the phone get in the way while your typing.
