...Sony Ericsson, NTT DoCoMo, China Mobile and several others are planning to release their Android phones next year.

Leading the pack is China Mobile who has dumped its home-grown OMS(Open Mobile System) standard and called on HTC to help it dish out the phone. While DoCoMo's offering will come in the first half, rest of the pack will release their droids later in second half. DoCoMo's announcement came from its president Ryuji Yamada in a press briefing in Tokyo yesterday.

According to one Mirae Asset Securities, G1 has landed "short of expectations". Phone development has been slow(stopped!) at SE, Samsung and LG facing negative responses from global mobile operators such as Vodafone and it would not be easy to change the situation unless Google comes up with proposals favoring mobile operators. Mirae Asset said that the biggest obstacle against the success of Android phone is skepticism among advertising sponsors about Google's profit model with smart phones -sales of some applications and content.

Lets hope that these are only speculations and not the actual stand of the companies.
