Thats a good news for whom 8GB just won't do. Not extensively tested, but G1 does support 16GB microSD cards. This was confirmed by a Google engineer who said that they've been using 16GB cards for sometime.

The card from SanDisk slated to be released soon has already been spotted at a few on-line shops in the UK for round-about £45 with VAT (about $70 pre-tax in the US) reports engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/25/sandisks-16gb-microsdhc-card-slips-into-retail-t-mobiles-g1/).

Good times !

My phone is recognizing my 16gb microSD, but won't let me put it into "use for USB" mode. So, right now my hands are tied as far as transferring music and photos over to my phone. I thought it might have to do with the 16gb card so I tested with my supplied 1gb card and have the same issue. Any help is appreciated!

i suppose your firmware version is RC19, this problem will probably be solved when you upgrade to RC29.

16GB.....Music....Movies.....TV Shows.......Pictures.

Does anyone know the optimum size for Pictures?

I've been using 480x360.
