Does the Gphone run AIM in the Background or foreground only?

Does the Gphone run AIM in the Background or foreground only? I have been a sidekick user for 6 years, I changed to the iPhone but returned it after a few days because it did not run AIM in the background. On the iPhone you must have AIM open and be looking at your buddy list to receive an instant message. Does anyone know how AIM works on the G phone?

It runs everything in the background. U can be browsing and it will notify you when you get messages in the notifier bar. Its a great phone. Nothing like the iphone were the block apps from running in the background

How would you compare it to the sidekicks AIM?

All in all its one of the better messenger services I have used. I havent used a sidekick for a bit but comparing it to my iPhone, and my wifes sidekick yesterday I couldnt go back.

I thought the Sidekick version was better because I consistantly find myself needing to re-logg in where my Sidekick would just automatically logg in ... I really notice this when I first boot up the phone ... for some reason, it doesn't seem to load the IMs automatically for me.

I have not had a problem being signed out of my Yahoo unless I manually sign out. I like this version, but not as much as what I had on my blackberry.
