Microsoft
"It really sounds that they are getting a whole bunch of people together to build a phone and that's something we've been doing for five years," said Scott Horn, from Microsoft's Windows Mobile marketing team. "I don't understand the impact that they are going to have."
Symbian
"If Google was not involved the industry would have just yawned and rolled over," said John Forsyth of Symbian. "We take it seriously but we are the ones with real phones, real phone platforms and a wealth of volume built up over years."
Apple
"We have a great relationship with Google and this doesn't change anything," said Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris. "They are certainly an important partner for iPhone."

I believe that the GPhone will be able to outsell most other cell phones, but it needs to come out before the next iPhone.

What the "Gphone" needs is something revolutionary along with it, not just a phone/os with something that the iPhone already has but just polished.. That would def. outsell the iPhone.

as usual, Microsoft chose to look the other way. i'd agree with Symbian, the word Google has heads rolling and minds working.

And when's Micro$oft going open-source? NEVER!

Hi,
I think Gnome-o-phone (gphone for short) is an internet telephone. In other words, if you and your friend have computers with sound cards and network connections, you can use gphone to talk to each other and save on phone bills. Gphone is definitely a work in progress and you probably shouldn't bet your business on it; if it breaks you can keep both pieces. Don't be too hard on the program, though -- the user interface is a bit rough but gphone does work pretty well.
The latest release of gphone is 0.5.2. The best way to get it is to download gphone-0.5.2.tar.gz from SourceForge.
The latest release of librtp is 0.1. The best way to get it is to download librtp-0.1.tar.gz from SourceForge.

Microsoft make me laugh. They just don't understand their customers anymore period. Ballmer laughed at the iPhone, yet from what I can see the iPhone already is second in market share in the US smart phone market.
Although unless someone can effectively create a groundbreaking interface using Android then I don't really see much threat to the iPhone or RIM just yet.

Ya i agree with you dude...
User Interface will play one the most important role for the success of gPhones(Just as innovative as iphone did). If OHA is planning to make yet another phone with just an ordinary touch screen it doesnt gonna make any difference even if it has tons of free opensource applications for android. Lets hope that Google makes something revolutionary....
