Problem with 4gb memory card

Hello, i have a 4gb san disk memory card on my G1 and it seems to be glitchy. When i go to use my camera sometimes it says that there is no memory card inserted. i have to take it out and put back in to recognize. but after it goes to sleep mode it stops working again. This is getting really frustrating. Does anyone know how to format the memory card from the phone?. What is the hightest size memory card i can put in it? I have had the same problems with other phone and formatting the memory card from the phone solved the problem Please HELp..............:eek:

i've been having that issue with my g1 as well as my wife's g1. happened on both the 1gb mem cards that came with the phone as well as both 8gb mem cards we just in. happens randomly but after rebooting both phones, happens less and less. hopefully a glitchthat will be fixed soon.

To format plug in to pc and go to my computer. It should show up as a removable drive. Right click on it and choose format and there you go. If it doean't show up as a removable drive, go into the phone settings. Menu/settings/sd card & phone storage/use for USB storage.

This is probably a stupid question, but how do you get apps to download directly to the memory card? Everything is downloading to my phone and I don't want apps there...

As far as I know, there is not a way yet to download apps to the sd card. Hopefully in the near future there will be an app to make it possible.
