The Gphone is based on Linux and Java. That may sound like a radical departure to you folks running Windows Mobile and Palm, but to owners of the Motorola A1200, it sounds like we finally have a group of talented programmers working to improve our phones. Is the A1200 just a Gphone in beta?

I too have a A1200 aka "Ming" and am suffering from lack of 3rd party apps. Hopefully the new G-apps will help us out.

This will be a complete new OS, just like RedHat and Ubuntu packages don't necessarily all work with each other - even though they're both Linux operating systems. Motorola worked hard on their OS, and put out a good one, but Android is a whole new OS.

So is Ming gonna be possible to run the Android OS? :)
Btw, read this! (http://www.intomobile.com/2007/06/21/motorola-may-be-prepping-upgraded-motorola-a1200-ming-for-us.html)

Strongly doubt it, as it would be a different chipset, etc. Of course, it IS open source, so there's a good chance it could be modded to do so...

Hope modders will fix it for the Ming since it's so cool! Google IS your best friend!
