By default, G1 supports only MP4 and 3GP formats. There are several video converter you could use, I recommend Any Video Converter- Free version (http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/) (Windows). Below are the recommended settings,

I've been playing around with WMV videos for a while now. You can play WMV if you keep the video bitrate below 300 kbps.

It seemed to look fine with these settings... although the file size turned out quite large http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j206/MarysvilleMojo/settingsG1.jpg

I have a gphone, however, it seems very hard to watch video on it. Does someone knows how this new technology plays a video using the modmyGphone software?

before converting the movie right click it and go to properties... check the frame rate. sometimes its better not to change that while converting... try re-converting it with its original frame rate

Hey guys
not to hijack this thread but I'm new and wasn't even sure if its ok to ask about this on the forum or not but... I have a bunch of protected video that I have bought over the Zune marketplace and would like to obviously get it on my g1 wmv but protected. Is there a protected video converter you guys recommend? If not, can i just change the bit rate down to 300? Still learning so have mercy if doing something wrong haha:D

I'm using VideoFab to convert my exisiting video files and DVDFab to convert my DVD's both have worked really well. I've got a version of Dark Knight that plays flawlessley.

It's a badass movie for sure.

If you use that software, use the iphone profile and it'll do fine.

I tried using videofab and used the ipod/iphone file conversion to mp4 but the video and sound came out messed up and garbled. Is that a problem with my computer or maybe because my wmv files im trying to convert to mp4 for g1 are protected with drm?

DRM could cause it. I haven't had any garbled audio on the 30 or so files I've encoded.

Im just not sure what to do... WMV drm must be hard to remove most video converters i have tried havnt worked even ones that are labeled as "protected" video converters. As i said before my videos im trying to convert are from the ZUNE Marketplace... should i start buying my videos from itunes instead are those easier to convert to MP4 possibly?
