I am sure there will be many questions as to what the heck the Gphone actually is, so here's the quick and dirty:
The Gphone is a term used for any device running the new OS Google is designing called Android. There will be a variety of devices from different manufacturers all running this OS.
No, you can't install it on your phone, it needs specific chipsets and hardware to run.
The first devices will most likely be made by Motorola and HTC, and will be coming out in the second half of 2008.

Hi
I think Gnome-o-phone (gphone for short) is an internet telephone. In other words, if you and your friend have computers with sound cards and network connections, you can use gphone to talk to each other and save on phone bills. Gphone is definitely a work in progress and you probably shouldn't bet your business on it; if it breaks you can keep both pieces. Don't be too hard on the program, though -- the user interface is a bit rough but gphone does work pretty well.
The latest release of gphone is 0.5.2. The best way to get it is to download gphone-0.5.2.tar.gz from SourceForge.
The latest release of librtp is 0.1. The best way to get it is to download librtp-0.1.tar.gz from SourceForge.
