This one seemed pretty obvious to me. But how about an RSS Reader (yeah it's simple), but you could extend the functionality by having the browser import feeds directly into that program, and even setting it up so you could have 'new' feeds periodically scrolling through the status bar.

I would also like the option of auto updating on a regular basis like in mail apps. I don't know but if it could be done well, I'd almost like an Information Manager that handles RSS, mail, texting, etc. But I'm not sure if its practical or could be done well.
