yeah... VPN capability would complete this phone for me. One of my co-workers has an iphone and we always go back and forth debating which phone is better and he always brings up the lack of VPN.

I did a google search for android vpn and this thing called nanophone suite for android came up. Does anyone know anything about it?

it a framework on which developers can build an application. I guess you can expect a VPN client within a month of Market accepting paid apps.

I'm new to the Android game. Is there an ETA on this yet?

In a related question (and maybe this is the wrong thread), will the current browser do certificates, because we have SSL VPN through the browser I could use for the time being.

Smile Version for mere mortals

Hi,

Would dearly like to get a working VPN client on my Android phone (Vodafone Magic aka HTC G2). Is there something out there that can run without having root access installed on the phone? Or am I missing something (like a clue!).

Hope you can help.

Cheers, Jon

There's no VPN that I know of that doesn't require root. Once you have root though Cyanogen's experimental ROMS's (3.9x) have VPN access and it works great.
