SD card not always working, file system problem?

I've been having issues with personal ringtones not always working, sometimes they're just not there, but beyond that, even the custom ring I've got as my default doesn't work. I assume it's because the phone isn't accessing my sdcard.

I know that the phone is fat and the sdcard is fat32. I don't know enough about file systems to know the answer, but could this minor difference be the cause of this trouble?

No... I'm apparently not smart enough to consider that...

Not sure if it matters, but I looked at my sdcard and discovered that it's class 2... I've ordered a class 4 SanDisk 8GB, hopefully the faster transfer speed helps.
