Default Unlock G1 for AT&T?

So if I'm an AT&T customer and want to get this phone unlocked is there going to a way to go this like the iPhone? I came across this with a simple Google search... seems kind of unlikely they'd just dole out the unlock code?....

pf edit: we now offer G1 Unlock services right here at ModMyGphone!

Default Highly suspicious

I would be highly suspicious of this site. Wait until there is a large forum of information on unlocking on modmygphone.com.

100% tested and working, I get my code in less than 24H (that's a good suprise as they advertise for 48H). To bad I don't have camera as they offer me $50 reward if I do a video proof.

So I believe a video proof will be available soon

I have an iPhone 3G on AT&T and keep it off ALL the time to conserve battery life so not having 3G on the G1 phone on the AT&T network is not a deal breaker. I have WIFI in downtown austin for free... at my office.. and at home. Draw backs are minimal.

I wouldn't doubt people unlocking G1's for other carriers. People want what they can't have. Not having 3g wasn't a big when I had my 3g iPhone on Tmobile.

Default 1700...

Doubt highly. They might but Tmobile uses 1700 for their 3G aswell with 2100. If they did, how well would it work?

I got mine unlocked, but how did you get it past activation? i keep getting a message that says can not communicate with google servers. i am assuming i have to change the gprs/data settings but don't know how on an android system.

I had a valid t-mobile SIM from another prepaid phone I put in there... You can just borrow one from a friend if they have it...

Question AT&T 3G Problem

Hello and new to the forum. If the answer is somewhere in this forum please direct me there.

I used the unlock-tmobileg1.com service to get the unlock code.

Some notes: Remember to register the G1 Phone with a T-Mobile SIM to get it activated on your gmail account.

Even unlocked it will not use the AT&T service to activate. It needs to access T-Mobile to activate.

In any case unlock-tmobileg1.com service is quick and accurate. Make sure you enter the unlock code correctly for your 1 attempt to unlock.

But the problem I am having is 3G Service from AT&T. AT&T worked with me and I have the unlimited 3G plan but I only seem to connect to the EDGE system.

Here are my APN settings:
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com.80
Port: <Not set>
Username: wap@cingulargprs.com
Password: cingular1
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MMC: 310
MNC: 410
APN Type: Not set

Any suggestions?
