Loopt comes to G1

Finally Loopt made it to Android and your G1. For the strangers, Loopt is a social mapping app which allows you to keep track of your friends, their location and what are they up to (read spying). Locations can be shared between Loopt users on AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Boost, MetroPCS and T-Mobile.

The Loopt experience in the Android Market offers all the core Loopt features including background location updating which enables users to receive alerts when a friend is nearby. Users can also switch between map modes for a satellite view of their friend map or to monitor traffic delays. Beyond sharing their location and status information with friends via phones, Loopt users can also easily share their information with popular Web services such as Facebook®, MySpace® and Twitter or personal blogs and Web sites.

Make sure you have a solid message plan because Loopt currently requires the use of SMS text messages. As of this writing, the app is not accessible through the Market app, goto http://loopt.com on your G1 to download the app.

Im assuming you can only view your friends that are using the app with the g1? is loopt out on the iPhone? if so would i be able to view friends using the iphone too from my g1?

yes, any of your friends on loopt and it does have an iPhone version.

Ok I don't know if I'm the only one from the UK who has tested it but when it asks for the phone number which should be 10 digits long I put my 11 digit phone number in and it tells me ill get a text with a link to activate it but I havnt received a text yet, that was about 20minutes ago, ill let you know if I get anything but I doubt I will now. Btw the link above takes you to the app on the android market where there are other comments from other people.

Hmm.. no problem dl the program, but doesnt give my correct location. No matter how many times i refresh location.. anyone else having the same problem? How do i correct the problem?

are you getting your location with gps? or did you get an approximate location with your cell signal?

Ive installed it... got no buddies on it. Kinda worthless

well this sucks...i have a iphone and g1, and i cant use loopt on either because i dnt have a phone number..ive been using em both on wifi, but i cancelled my plan..anyway to use this without a phone number?
